SPOILER WARNING!!!

This is the most triumphant Super Mario level in the history of triumphant Super Mario levels! It's by far the most ridiculous beast of a level, and the toughest one to get into. It requires not only getting all 120 stars, but also all of the 120 green ones, and that includes all 49 comet medals!

The level itself is broken into 6 segments, each with entirely different mechanics, themes, and backgrounds. I could write an essay on what it takes to speedrun this level because it really needs that much to explain it. The design is extremely tight, massively puzzling, and punishes greatly for error. Additionally, each segment gets exponentially harder as it continues, so there's never a breathing moment during the speedun!

32:14:19 (32 hours, 14 minutes, 19 seconds), From May 23 to June 6, that wraps up all 242 stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2!

  • What is your best time for beating this Galaxy?

  • @ShaunOfNintendo So far, this one, representing the only time I beat it without dying.

  • Great job on this. If you're interested, I have a few suggestions: you could use the saved clouds on the flip-switch part to skip quite a bit of it, and you could also skip waiting on the pull star path by shaking to be released and then pulling back up, using the momentum to carry you upwards. Again, fantastic job on keeping things fluid.

  • @Metakirby5 Yes, I could've skipped a lot of that section, but that would've been a sissy move! The pull star path idea is genius though! Getting a smooth run like this is probably the highlight of my Youtube career, I swear. I couldn't find anybody else attempting a speedrun of this level!

  • @mariomguy I've been trying to find someone attempting a speedrun of it as well, simply for how difficult this level is :P If you're interested in any more suggestions, you could've also walked diagonally on the rims of the ?/! switches to save time from jumping, and used a technique with the flip-switches where you use the momentum from them to propel long jumps (/watch?v=wbXPOTVpIBQ at about 0:20).

  • @Metakirby5 Walking diagonally would've been risky because it could easily trigger a switch you don't want to. Also, that technique seems to be a glitch exploit rather than something intended on the part of the designers.

Honestly, I'm just glad for having beaten this level so quickly!

  • Here's your first problem: You played as MArio.

  • @Peachfanclub

I'm in the Mario Galaxy club!!!! Technically speaking. Is there a website for it? :P Because I'm in it, but not in it. LOL, I'm confused.

  • The fourth segment is the hardest IMO, followed by the sixth, fifth, third, first, and second.

    Bouldergeist appears!

But isnt the point of a speed run to take short cuts or as you say "sissy move" Speed runs for me are getting to the end in the fastest time even if it means skipping some. So I don't see it as sissy I see it as helpfull

I think this guy did it a bit faster but this was still incredible.....I'm struggling with this level atm.

  • this level was hell. I finished, but I would have thrown my wiimote right after If i didnt X_X
