I'd have to say I agree with you. The first few seasons of SG1 and the first season of SGA were the best. It all went sour after that, especially when Hammond left.

since the universe doens't speak english, we might be on the right track again. looks to be more epic than S10 and final movies of SG1 and with realism of BSG.

Nothing will be better then SG-1, they should have kept going with that.

tba ... SGU has killed stargate forever. SG1 and SGA was amazing.... but SGU .. pffft ...

And saying that something won't be "as succesful as SG1" before seeing that is ignorant, to say the least.
So far it seems that the creators learned from their past mistakes and SGU will be more SCIENCE fiction than fantasy that was SGA S2-5 and SG1 S5-9

girlyfied? sorry nope.
While SGU is all about "going more gritty, edgy and realistic", when you think about it THAT is the roots of entire stargate franchise(remember the badass bloody Kurt Russel and Jaffa guard rumble in the end of SG movie?).
SG1 and SGA at the latter seasons began to loose what made the franchise so awesome - the thrill, the atmosphere, the emotions, the unknown.
SGA S1 was last time they used that and if SGU is coming back to that approach - I am in.
