There a Polar Bear killed in the 19th century that was something like 5ft. 5in. high at the shoulder, 11ft. 11in. long, and weighing 2,207 lbs.

Hi Killer,
yes, the bear was real (It is now stuffed and in a museum in The Yukon) It was purported to be the world's largest Polar Bear. It was 11 feet 9 inches tall. The natives involved in this picture were put in to show the difference in size of the people.
I don't know how the bear died.
