from abc: The pilot, who both the TSA and US Airways declined to identify, was a member of the Federal Flight Deck Officer program, an initiative put in place after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The initiative allows authorized members of cockpit crews to carry weapons on board.

The TSA policy is stupid. All gun locks come with warning labels that say "Do not use on a loaded gun." Does the TSA not know how to read warning labels?
Another problem is a poor choice of gun. Currently pilots can only carry the Smith and Wesson M&P 40, which has no external safety features. If they could carry a gun with a grip safety, like a Springfield XD or 1911, then accidents like this one would not have happend.

Blame the pilot if you want, sure he goofed up...but the TSA made this risky policy, and can change to a different set up that will make such an accident actually impossible. Remember that this risky procedure is being done in the air hundreds of times per day. Sure the chances of a mishap are small, but the laws of probability say that if you roll the dice enough times, you will see all possibilities. MAKE A BETTER HOLSTER TSA

OH WOW, you even copy and paste messages from one video to another, damn, you REALLY care a lot about how others view the "debate" is going don't you? If this comment was meant only for me, one time would have been enough, but you had to make sure others see it too. WOW and you claim to not have self esteem issues. Honestly, I'm not laughing anymore, this is really sad. No wait, it's still funny though...

Oh, by the way, I watched a couple of your videos and got to tell ya. You need some better instruction. Regurgitation of basic BS does not make you an authority. You have whats called a "rote" understanding of FA skills. You also claim I have a "self esteem" issue, but you video your soft flabby body and put it on the net? Plus you show the world what a goof you are by having no public speaking skills whatsoever. Delete all your crap from the net, grow up and get a real job in LE if you can.

Well I would like to see a better holster, granted, but this system is in use by several agencies in the FED and with very few mishaps. Negligence happens, but these guys are not trained to proficiency in weapon retention skills to survive a take away in the cabin or in the airport. Their mission is very specific and limited for a reason. The manuals are written for liability purposes and I'm sure you understand that until the trigger is pressed, the gun doesn't go off. Right?

Look dipshit, I made even another account to make comments. Sorry, I dont live through youtube like you do, I just create an account if I need to comment on something. Like this issue. When idiots like you, who use silly abbreviations like a teenager texting on a cell phone, act as if they know the slightest thing about firearms (You dont) I have to comment. The only one responsible for the ND is the weapon handler.

The current set up is plain retarded. ALL manuals say to keep the trigger guard free of foreign objects. There is no reason why they should use this set up. TSA should contract Blackhawk to safely re-engineer their retention holster to have a lock on it. End of story. Such an accident would never happen again. As for it being 100 percent operator error, why then are planes equipped with safety features like stall indicators and overspeed warnings...because engineering safety is BEING RESPONSIBLE

What is this, some multiple personality disorder? LOL, I can't believe you are commenting to yourself and giving yourself ratings using a different account name, that is just too funny! Someone has some self esteem issues... "I have a best friend, it's me!" LMAO!
