Your lyrics say "The Monroe Doctrine was by James Monroe." John Q. Adams wrote the document, but it was issued under James Monroe's administration. It was not "by" James Monroe.

actually, john quincy adams was the primary framer of the doctrine while he was monroe's secretary of state
but otherwise, amazing song!

Thanks for listening and bringing this up! You raise good points, but our lyrics remain accurate: The Monroe Doctrine, declaring efforts by European nations to colonize the Americas would be seen as acts of aggression, was first announced by James Monroe in a speech to Congress in 1823. The actual written document was developed by John Quincy Adams, and many of the ideas within it were that of Adams. But Monroe is credited with introducing, issuing, and executing these ideas while president.
