Not super bad news, but not great news.

Ask questions and I will reply to you but post the answers here in the description too to make it easier for future readers to find info.

Thanks.

[Q.] Will you be able to ride him again?
[A.] Yes. I can ride him for now, but he will eventually be retired early (probably-- I'm not psychic). We have to avoid working on hard ground, as well as avoiding making small circles and jumping too much. He can jump for fun sometimes but he'll never be a jumper.

  • Awwww I'm soo sorry! You must be devistated.. How bad is it, will you be able to ride him again??

  • @LottieLovesMimi

It's not the worst it could be. He will be rideable. I'm sure he won't be able to be ridden for as long as I would like him to though. Retirement will come earlier. He can't be "hardcore jumped" -- I can do it for fun but not a lot-- and I have to avoid a lot of tight circles and lunging.

  • Is he in pain?

  • im so sorry. at least he isnt in any pain x

  • My 24 year old Arab has Nav. He's still ridden about an hour a week...I'd probably ride longer if I had time. xD But yeah. He went from an endurance horse that barrel raced and jumped 2'3 to my trail puff that'll gladly w/t/c but I don't push him. :/ Navicular's not great...but like you said, it CAN be maintained and they CAN be kept comfortable and happy with it.

  • I hope that he's in the same situation as my horse. The vets did a bunch of x-rays and tried to tell us that Will had navicular disease as well, when all it really was was an old injury that started to hurt again because I hadn't built up enough muscle in his leg. Now he can trot for hours and not gimp, and when he does, it's when we haven't worked in awhile and it's cold. I hope everything turns out well! Much love to you and Mr. Fred! (: <3

  • oh my, thats so sad, at-least you can maintain it, and it's not like you won't ever be able to ride him again. I'm so sorry! :( I hope he gets better,

  • aww im sorry :[
