A video from HBO showing the 70's band Tacoma. Written by keyboardist John Brown (who was sadly out of town during this taping) and featuring Greg Youtsey on bass and lead vocals, Doug Latislaw on lead guitar, Emmett Brown on guitar and Keith Segel on drums. Sorry about the quality but this came off a 30 year-old VHS tape. Doug and Greg had been with the 60s pop group The Generations.

  • Why are these vocals tracks out of sync??.. I saw that on another track with the bass player singing. Dude, if that is you singing, you are great. I would not want to suspect a lip sync? This appears to be a very very good band.

  • @lclaughton This was lip synced to the playback of our recording. Thats the way it was done back then when HBO shot some music videos to play between movies (this was pre MTV). We all sang backup on this stuff and that was one of the things that made the group so good - everyone could sing. By the way, Doug co-wrote the song with John and is still playing with a band in L. A.

  • Nice guys! You look so young. Playing great on this tune as well.

  • Greg - I saw you guys many times at Park Place - also at JC - remember Doug playing thru a lesle speaker then. I played with Mike Wible(Me on bass mike on keys) doing ELP stuff before he played in any bands. Wish all bands had some vid back then - late 70's - like Emergency Exit, Foxx, Splash, Light Brigade, Redemption, etc - See lots of Warren Wiebe vids.

Remember when disco hit and you guys had to play that stuff?

  • Polyester and the love boat;wow this was an odd time in history.

  • Thanks for the note back! Greg is one hell of a fine singer.and bassist..Surprisingly he has a strong resemblence to the great bass player Don Barrett who played bass and sang all the high harmony with Eddie Rabbit for years. I just e mailed Jimmy Hyde who was Eddie Rabbits drummer for 20 years. I asked him to check out this video...I sent Greg the video of Don Barrett today in a concert with a close up of him on stage..strong resemblence and both major talents & fairly close in age.

  • I answered my own question..Very common for a band to play to their studio recorded track on a live TV apearance like this. Greg and the others are without mics..As a not as young as I once was bass player and singer myself, you have have earned my repsect.. What a great series of videos with you siging lead. Any very good band with you in there on bass and vocals would really be doing themselves a fovor..Let us know if any really good bands develop. Love to come down and check it out!!

  • Man, those two cats on guitars doing that nice harmony work...way cool.. So this must be a Greg Youtsey original tune? ...Greg I got to hand it to you! You were doing some very nice material.

  • I was walking down memory lane tonight and started looking up old friends. Doug, if your out there.....you'll remember me and my Mom in Chula Vista. haha I could add some oldie photos too. I still have my Generation Scrap Book....haha... Susie

  • Never got to see Tacoma play live, but I have to say that I think "Cheryl and Acemen" were more fun to watch than "The Generations." Nice bass line and lead guitars in this vid.
