Marilyn Monroe - Down in the meadow
song from River of no return (1954)

When Mr South Wind sighs in the pines
old Mr Winter whimpers and whines
Down in the meadow, under the snow
April is teaching green things to grow

When Mr West Wind howls in a glen
old Mr Summer nods in the shade
Down in the meadow, deep in the brook
catfish are waiting for the hook

Old Lady Blackbird flirts with the scarecrow
scarecrow is waving at the moon
Old Mr Moon makes hearts everywhere go bump, bump
with the magic of June

When Mr East Wind shouts over head
then all the leaves turn yellow and red
Down in the meadow corn stocks are high
pumpkins are ripe and ready for pie

  • I can't believe that someone had that much inside and outside, she was just one of a kind.

  • Marilyn also did another film on location in Canada. "Niagara," a suspense drama, with the lovely Falls as its back-drop. In one of those odd happenings of life, her co-star here, Robert Mitchum, came from a "blue-collar" working-class background - and one of his co-workers, in the mid-1940's, before M.M's stardom, was Marilyn's first husband, James Dougherty. This was in a L.A. "defense plant." The actor later recalled Marilyn's love notes to her "Jimmy" which she left in his lunch-pail.

  • Marilyn had a very natural and wonderful singing voice.

  • @angelofmusic477 how old are you?? :)

  • This scene was filmed at the historic site of Jasper House in Jasper National Park. Google "Jasper House photo" for a Parks Canada photo of the scene today.

  • MADE IN ALBERTA

  • So beautiful and so talented.

  • Never seen this movie before, but nice to see Monroe in a different role than what the common person thinks of her (i.e., buxom blonde in tight dresses playing a sexy bimbo). An underrated talent.
