I get the feeling the English announcer misread the double-L as a U. Weird that nobody caught it before the episode aired, though.

Ratatouille is pronounced rat-a-too-EE in English, but it actually sounds like rat-a-tooy in French. Japanese pronunciation often mimics the phonetics of the word in its origin language, so would pronounce it as ra-ta-tooy, but since Japanese doesn't have an ending `y` sound, it's adjusted to be pronounceable to Japanese people to `ra-ta-tu-yu`. Don't know why the English dub mimicked the Japanese pronunciation instead of the available English one though.

the jap iron chef's idea is really bland and boring. the french is more creative and integrated. the iron chef jap sucks.!!
