Space was a 1990 ambient house concept album by Jimmy Cauty under the alias Space.

Originally intended to be The Orb's debut album, Space was refactored for release as a solo album following Cauty's departure from that group. Space was independently released on KLF Communications, the record label formed to distribute the work of Cauty's other project, The KLF.

The only Space album ever released consists of seven tracks (one for each planet other than Earth and Mars) and some incredibly sparse ambience. Besides a variety of astronaut/mission-control samples, there are long periods of near-silence with only an occasional break for galactic sine-waves and similarly spacy tones.

More important for who's on it than what's in it, Space is yet another casualty of the deleted and ultra-rare KLF back catalog.

1 Mercury
2 Venus
3 Mars
4 Jupiter
5 Saturn
6 Uranus
7 Neptune
8 Pluto

  • I bought this on vinyl in London on the same day the klf (ex) were showing their burning a million quid film in a pub in the eastend, shook their hands, had a small chat and that for was the end of the whatever was left of the klf. Legend geezers, legend band.

  • Thanks a lot for posting this dude.

  • I bought this for a fiver from some tattoo shop come 2nd hand record shop come weed dealer in peterborough way back in 1992, and i still have my vinyl copy, played twice, last time was possibly 94, so its nice to hear this again after so long.

This is better than anything the Orb released, including perpeptual dawn and little fluffy clouds. I remember those says as if they happened last week, thanks for uploading this one, appreciated loads xx
