The date was March 15, 1980 at the Garden City Bowl, Garden City, NY for the $85,000 Long Island Open. The finals were unique, in that there were three first bowlers making their first appearances on TV, Arnie Goldman, and future hall of famers Dave Ferraro, and Pete Weber. They joined Earl Anthony and Mark Roth to complete the top 5.

This is second match of the day, #5 Arnie Goldman vs. #3 Pete Weber.

This marks the very first time that Pete Weber was on TV, as well. Pete was just 17 years old.

Hope you enjoy!

  • I saw Arnie at the Detroit Masters tournament this past weekend...still has the same exact form and style, 28 years later!

  • Unfortunately, this is the best that exists. If you don't like it, then don't watch it. If you have a better copy, then post it. Until then, be happy that at least we have this to watch.

  • Arnie is still a force in the Detroit area bowling scene. I spoke to him the other day for a bit, he was excited that I was going to be posting his matches on youtube. Hope you enjoy!

I also remember seeing this match live as it happened. I became a Pete Weber fan as well.

  • Thank you so much for posting this and all of your other classic bowling vids. Brings back SO many memories of my Sat morn youth leagues and racing home to catch the PBT at 3:30p on ABC. Averaged in the 190's in my early teens, 210+ in my late teens, and held a regional PBA card for a few years in my early 20's back in the 80's. I've been glued to YouTube for hours since I found your bowling posts!!!

  • I love Arnie, the innovator! Great guy no matter what!

  • I actually see him quite regularly, as I bowl at a house he frequents. You're right, he does bowl exactly the same as he did here.

  • Geez! I'm 16 and I'm no where NEAR this. This is why he's one of the greatest ever.

  • this is still a great match to watch despite the quality of the video

  • Agreed. Do keep in mind too, that this is youtube video we're speaking about here, so it had to be broken down so to speak.

  • Pete Looks like peter pan in the vid
