A year ago the monks of Burma led half a million people in peaceful protests around the country, proclaiming to the military regime that peace and freedom must be finally restored to the people. The generals' response to the non-violent calls was extremely brutal; hundreds were killed, thousands imprisoned, many monasteries raided, and many people are still missing.

U Gawsita was one of the leaders of the Saffron Revolution. He speaks about what happened and what he wants the world to do.

  • hello i m naingkunrot i like this thank you

  • If I don't give a permission to kill, myfamily and myself are in danger.

So I am sorry but I have no choice to kill you.

Please forgive me and my family.

    Senior General than shwe

  • There's hope, things could be made, moreover there's a real political opposition in Burma with strong and competent figures... that's the most shameful situation the world is living. I'm so sad for Aung San Suu Kyi... she's a hero, but I fear she could die without any international compassion, and people's hopes would die at the same time. Burma needs more activism from artists, not only words but also concrete works like the movie Rangoon by John Boorman.

Anyway, thnx for the upload. Peace.

  • I feel bad for the monks. But i don't support on gettin rid of the military, becoz that be messed up. The way democrats say is that they want UN or US n fight th army, which is fuckin retarted. again i dun support th democrats, i am not son of a general, but my life is great... example of a Burmese who tried hard in life and became successful.

  • please spread awareness. protest/sign petitions, do all you can.

  • I stand in solidarity with the monks, and will continue to fight for change in Burma. IT WILL COME!

    Love & Bright Blessings Always.

  • we love you all very much i will always spread the word for you to have freedom,it is time for change all over the world.peace be unto all of you

  • Agreed

  • Burma needs to stay on the front page. We all need to support democracy in Burma and encourage the US govt to put pressure on the military regime.
