Kato USA is proud to produce the Chicago Metra MP36PH and Bi-Level cars in a four-piece train set, available at hobby stores and online. Display the sets on their own or run them together with an M1 basic track set - these train sets make a great gift for train enthusiasts or as something to run around the Christmas tree!

  • quick question. How long is this set from loco to the cab car connected?

  • @Autovomatic Around 24-25 inches long (5" MP36, 3 x 6.5" cars)

  • Are you planning other paint schemes? A GO Transit MP36PH would go really well with Athearn's GO Transit Bombardier Bi-level cars; they sell them alongside an F59PHI (which GO never used) because it looks somewhat similar to the MP36PH.

  • @espyr Other paint schemes are definitely on the cards. We've already announced VRE versions of both the cars and the locomotive, and have more paint schemes on the cards for the locomotive that may very well align with some of the other style cars out there from other manufacturers.

  • Awesome train. But please don't stop producing HO scale stuff. There's alot of roomers going around down here in the Southeast that KATO is moving away from HO for good.

  • @Grumpy7783 We are actually just shipping our latest release of HO GE AC4400CW's right this moment, and on top of taking pre-orders for SD90/43MACs coming out near the beginning of the year we should have some more HO product announcements next month.

  • nice train!

  • Can/will you produce these in HO please?

They look fantastic! Kudos for mass-producing these and Kudos x 10 if you produce these in HO!

  • I must echo the sentiments of many other HO modelers......please consider making this set available to us HO scale modelers.......

  • Ive been a lifelong HO scale fan, and i own many Kato products in HO scale, but i started model railroading with my son, a new modeler, and he preferred N scale, and when Kato announced it was releasing this set in N scale, that was the deal maker, i pre-ordered 2 sets from my local hobby shop here in illinois. The Metra set fills a void in model railroading as these pieces ar very hard to find in HO. We now have a large roster of Kato N scale products, great job Kato.

  • Looks so much like the real thing!!! I've gotta buy it!!!

  • You def need to make these in HO scale!!!

  • Are you going to make an HO scale version of this?

  • Oh And Will There Ever Be A Metra F40Ph In The Future As Well!?!

  • PLEASE KATO! Make an MBTA set of the new MBTA MP36! With bi-levels, it will be so popular, and no other company has made any MBTA products in HO scale since the comet coaches back in the late 90s. From a boston modeler, i can tell you people will pay big money for ho MBTA model trains.
