Midnight Run is without a doubt the most underrated comedy of all time. De Niro and specially Charles Grodin were amazing on that one.

That agent's silly shades must have hampered his vision, surely anyone in his profession would be able to tell Travis has got an arsenal of weaponry under that jacket!

I always thought that sounded just as phoney as "Henry Krinkle"!

Of course they're trying to take his photo. The only thing that puzzles me about this scene is that the secret service agent seems perfectly content to let this weirdo go right up to the limo, he could have shot the senator then and there.

He's secret service, not postal service.

yes, Travis gives a nonexistent Illinois zipcode (61045) for Fairlawn NJ - if the SS agent knew about such things, he would have slapped the cuffs on Travis right then and there - movie over, case closed.

Yeah uh huh. I love this ongoing debate about exactly who the SS were trying to photograph. Most of us on here don't know exactly how the SS operate. If we did, they wouldn't be very SECRETive would they?

I love how convincing the secret service guy was. You can tell guy knows from the get-go he's dealing with a looney but he acts cool, and the second De Niro turns around he looks at the photographer like "Get over here, NOW!!!"

taxi driver really is one of the great american pictures, and just outside my top 10. to me, movies most powerful asset is a reflection of people in society, and travis bickle is the prime example of the outcast on the verge of violence. i also like him in "Raging Bull", "The king of comedy", "Mean Streets", "Cape Fear", "The Deer Hunter", "Goodfellas", and "Awakenings".
