Over 2,000 union members from across the labor spectrum and their allies gathered on Capitol Hill to deliver 1.5 million signed cards from people around the country supporting the passage of Employee Free Choice Act to members of Congress. Workers gave first-hand testimony about their efforts to form a union and why passing Employee Free Choice is so important to them. Speakers at the event included two of the pending legislation's leaders, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Representative George Miller (CA-7), as well as United Steelworkers' International President Leo Gerard and Sierra Club President Allison Chin as well as officers from a number of unions and federations.
