@santran not necessarily true. Im a current IE major, and IE's are expected to be proficient in math but we take one semester less of physics. All engineers take take Calc III and differential eqs.
@aslanove Yes. Mathematics especially. They're expected to be more proficient in math than all other Engineers. Industrial engineering is really problem solving with mathematical analysis. Of course, you do have to take the standard physics and chemistry classes that all pre-engineers have to go through.
hey guys,I am about to enter university and study idustrial engineering...So i like to get an accurate idea or answer of what does the math required for industrial engineering based on.And does it require a student to be excellent or profesional in Math,Physics,and chemistry.Thanks for any one that will answer me.
Is the market need a IE rather than other Engineer in fact? because it seems like every kind of manufacturing and industry or even system need a Industrial engineer ..
after I heard that,,from the video,,a PHD will get more respect,,i am thinkin is that,,IE is more like a business instead ?..so actually,,,,other type of major can also take the pose of IE?
Sorry IEs are not jacks-of-all-trades or require a higher IQ. They are not in anyway competent with mech, chem, electrical, software, or any other form of engg disciplines. They use management classes and statistics for quality control. This is valuable, but it is much more Business than engineering.
BTW IEs, like the majority of BUS students, wind up in middle management. Mech and Elect enggs design, optimize, and manage the manufacturing systems. IEs are hired after the fact.
@poolie626
All the IE programs I have seen on the east coast (US) have extra Calc based statistics classes, and take the full Phys 1&2.

I like your saying ^^ but you need those jacks-of-all-trades to combine all those master-of-sth-s.
Anw, IE does master at 1 thing, that is to look at the systems as an integration of components ^^

Meh, IE are jacks-of-all-trades-master-of-none
Only for que money seekers, not the passionate engineers who like technology.
