a very sad place. A lot of lives fizzled and died tortuous endings filled with mental and physical collapse brought on by horrible medications and shock therapy etc. I was there. My parents threw me in there for smoking pot...on Christmas eve...early 1970's.
That place brings back very sad memories

@damianmann ...My step dad had the same thing happen to him by his parents..institutionalized for drugs...when he got there and got pissed of....guess what...more drugs...haha twisted shit man.

@TheJumper01 as far as I know not close at all. I drove up there to take pictures one day and a Patrol car was sitting up front near it. I politely asked if I could just stay and take pictures of the front of the building. The officer also politely asked me not to and to leave saying that if I did I would be "trespassing" Central Ave (the road leading to the old building) is all state owned to a point. I would assume the best one can do without getting in trouble is take em at the park.
