Career Connections: Parsons The New School for Design and NYC Team Up

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Parsons The New School for Design hosted the first annual Fashion Campus NYC, July 15th - 16th, 2011. Fashion Campus NYC is one of six fashion industry-focused initiatives announced in November 2010 by NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg as part of NYC's push to help build on its competitive advantages and enhance its status as a global fashion capital. Fashion Campus NYC, which will be held again in 2012, is specifically designed to expose student interns to the variety of business careers available to them within NYC's fashion industry.

Events included an industry panel moderated by Simon Collins, dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons | http://www.newschool.edu/parsons/fashion, networking opportunities and informational sessions organized by

Parsons Career Services | http://www.newschool.edu/parsons/about-career-services and a conversation with Parsons alumnus Derek Lam.

Next, Parsons and the NYCEDC will host Fashion Draft NYC, which will select top graduating college seniors from around the world and bring them to New York City, expenses paid, in order to network with fashion industry executives, learn more about the business and interview with some of the City's top fashion firms for management-track positions.
