You need to install VIM. You can use any other text editor if you like. If you want VIM then do sudo apt-get install vim

Ok sorry, I've got calm since then ;) But my point wasn't to sound professional, my point was: you don't go working for NASA and ask all people how to add 2+2, especially when all you need to do is to use google. If you're newbie that's totally fine but what the hell are you doing on nagios setup video if you can't edit text files? (or copy paste error message to google?!)

He's most probably an user of ubuntu .(since the video is intended for ubuntu) so don't be so hard on him . Ubuntu is , and always will be for beginners . Never have i seen a production system running on ubuntu. Well once , but that was only a small mail server.

So don't try to act like the most professional user ever ,and give newbies some space. You make the community look extremely bad

Once nagios is installed on a ubuntu computer is it possible to connect it to a router that is then connected to another ubuntu machine in order to collect snmp data? Hoping you can tell me if the network monitoring of nagios can be done without the use of the internet? Good videos so far thanks.

God damn it I can't read comments like this! You are watching video about non trivial things (not "how to install gedit on ubuntu because I'm moron") but you don't know what is vim (which is clearly not an editor for you!) and what "command not found" means. You are user of Linux not windows nor MacOS, you're supposed to know anything about your OS, I mean fricking bare minimum for f*** sake! (and learn to use google also, don't ask so easy-to-google things in comments!)

hmm...did you have to make any changes to a firewall or the iptables? I cannot access the web gui on the server from my workstation, but I can ping the box from my workstation.
