Quick look at some of the props we supplied to the Doctor Who Christamas special 'Voyage of the Damned '. Dr Who Art Dept had us on file because we supplied the original admiralty glass lens for a Tardis many years ago... fans have also found us and bought these glass lenses for there own Tardis'. As this year's special was about the Titanic they needed plenty of original ships fittings and fixtures to mix in with the futuristic stuff. Identical versions of most of these items are on our website but the original ones you see on the video will go onto ebay in the next 7 days starting at the price that they were originally for sale for in our showroom. 1st item to go on: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300187704706
Our motivation for this is not profit but to spread the word of Trinity Marine a little wider.
Heres a quick list of what's shown on this video and what was hired. Most items can be seen throughout the special.
Bronze and Brass Binnacle Periscope: used on top of the steering helm in Wheelhouse.
Large bronze USA Minesweepers light: fixed to the ceiling of wheelhouse. (note the BBC Wales stickers on the back)
A Pair (one shown) of Copper Vents that have been converted to table lamps: very Captain Nemo, the art dept loved them so they are featured prominently on the main console of the wheelhouse.
Small Copper Vent: BBC put a light into it and it is regularly seen on the main console of the wheelhouse.
Brass Bulkhead light from 1950's cargo ship: used throughout the ships crew only areas of the set although not shown very often in the final edit.
Bronze Wall Fixed Passage Way Light with Short Cage: used throughout the ships crew only areas of the set although not shown very often in the final edit.:
Brass Ships Inclinometer Clock Style: to show how far the ships is listing, normally found in the wheelhouse and Captains cabin. In the Voyage of the Damned you can clearly see this piece used by the door of the wheelhouse above the circular brass door control.
Chadburns Ships Whistle Control: used in the special as the handle which opens the bulkhead door to the wheelhouse.

Wood and Brass Inclinometer --Pendulum style: Seen regularly and clearly in the wheelhouse at the rear on the wall.
Brass Ships Telephone from a passenger ship called the 'Kenya Castle'. Seen, and used by the Captain and Midshipman, on the main console in the wheelhouse
Brass Retractable Chart Lamp. Sell lots of these her at the showroom, very useful and elegant little lights with many uses. Dr Who took two, one of which can be regularly seen in the wheelhouse on the starboard side above an unseen chart table.
Silver Plate Dinner Service: only caught one glimpse of a couple of these in one of the scenes... the BBC hired lots of them but didn't feature in the final edit like we'd hoped. We were hoping Kylie was going to hold one of these so we could touch it and lick it when it came back, but no joy!
One of the glass fresnel lenses bought by the BBC for the Tardis many years ago...
Console Mounted Engine Telegraph: Nice close-ups of this in the episode and some still images used in the official promotional material. Used in the centre of the wheelhouse.
Large Montague Dawson print: used and clearly seen in the 1st Class dining Room.
Not shown in the video footage is the main brass engine telegraph (throttle control) which is the most prominent thing in any of the shots of the wheelhouse. It stands approx 4ft tall and has two levers which are used by the Midshipman a couple of times. This is also available for sale if you are interested.
Sorry its not the most interesting video but thought you might like to see where the Dr Who Art Dept go for a rummage for props.
Cheers....Trinitymarine.co.uk

  • whats the track? .....very, very cool.

  • the track is by Ministry of Defiance, Chapel Couture, Post Office records... thought it was suitable because people will be listening to Dave Handfords music way into the future, as long, that is, as sheeple don't take over the planet.
