This kinetic sculpture is inspired by the unlimited freedom of 3d printing.
It wobbles and turns with a slight movement of the hand.
Give it a good spin or blow on it and it erupts in erratic and wild behavior.
The video is not manipulated in any way, it was made three years ago with a mobile phone camera. The motion is induced by blowing at it.
Available from $25 in White, Black, Blue, Red, Violet Purple, Pink or Alumide at http://shpws.me/NSt

It works by blowing air at it, as it says in the description. For full details follow the link in the description.

No, there is one with Aluminum powder in it though ;-)
But yes, this type of 3d printing is still relatively expensive.

It's cool, but $25? Is it studded with gold and diamonds?

Hey, teh greatest inventions of this world were discovered by accident. nothing demeaning about that. Sure, I did leave out the "worked my ass of to perfect it" part, but only for the funny effect. :)

why those arent used to collect wind energy? If we increase this in size and install it on the wind it could generate vast amount of energy both kinetic and electric.

Not really..
Yes, I was doing some freestyle modeling and accidentally discovered the appealing effect of rounded and nested cubes.
But then I decided to make these concentric cubes into something with gyroscope like properties. So I added the axles.
And while this effect worked a lot better than I expected, it was as intended.
And it took a lot of time and effort to get everything right.
But thank you for your demeaning clarification ;-)

You don't. you just make things, then one day one of them does something really cool and you are like "I totally meant that".
