YES. HAHAHA.
I love it when I defeat yt.
Okay, I need to make this quick because I have an English mock tomorrow and my context info on Broken Glass is seriously low.
This song isn't really liked by yt if you know what I mean, so I had to do a little pitch-changin'. To be fair, I think I'm getting the knack of it.
Hm. I had so much to say. I think my film mock today (2 and 1/2 HOURS) disabled my ability to write.
... Blimey, I hope not. Without my ability to write I think I'd just keel over because of how little use I'd be D: baah.
Okay this vid is complicated. I'm not sure whether I loves it hates it. You guys remember the preview, right? I only noticed that the title had a spelling fail a couple of days ago (*slaps wrist* ENGLISH MOCK GRACE. ENGLISH MOCK) and decided to leave it because I thought it added character XD
The vid is about Anya being a princess and Dimitri being a little kitchen boy. But, it's also about him feeling he's not good enough for her. The song (WHICH WAS NOT MEANT TO BE VIDDED. HOMG. So so difficult ;___;) is about a couple drifting apart and I think that represents Dimitri thinking that as Anya becomes closer to rediscovering her roots, they grow further apart (obviously not though because she luuurves him) The song also highlights how he loses himself and his confidence, but it turns out to be a good thing. I listen to these lyrics and hear a man who is giving his better half permission to tire of him because of what he has become. But I like to think even though they may have grown apart, she might tell him that, actually, she loves the man he's become more than what he was. That's why I gave this a happy ending, anyway.
Okay, lemme just elaborate:
The shiny scenes represent Anya in the glitz and glamour and happy about it, the black and white with shiny is happy times she had with Dimitri (b+w because he thinks they weren't good enough in comparison to the shiny scenes) but just plain b+w is unhappiness. No colouring is just how things are. The present if you will.
But this vid is so complicated. I really think the film studies student came out so much while editing it. I'd love it if you guys just thought of it how you want to.
Omgg, I want to rant on about the lyrics and what they mean but I won't, because I need to do some English. Stoopid school.
Brothers on a hotel bed; death cab for a cutie
Can I just say how obsessed I am with this video? I have no idea how many times I've seen it.. There can't be many videoes on yt that I've seen more than this one. I just love every bit of it, and I seem to discover something new every time! There's just so much there! And I am in love with using "Brothers on a hotel bed" as a way to express the whole "so close but still so far" problem. This is a masterpiece, nothing less.
