Here's three common session reels for you. Sorry about the bum notes but despite re-recording the accordion part I still managed to mess it up a bit.

The first is called The Silver Spear and is in D major:

The second is called The Pigeon on the Gate in E minor:

The last is called Father Kelly's in G major. This reel was written by Father P.J. Kelly a missionary who also played traditional Irish music. Although it's more commonly known as Father Kelly's, Father Kelly himself named this The Rossmore Jetty after a pier down on the Shannon River.

The guitar is tuned Open-G and I'm using a Quick Draw capo.

  • Nice one Dave, good band you've got there. Think you need to get more though!! Any good sessions down your way or little festivals coming up?

  • @twangalot Hey twangalot. There's only one open session around Bournemouth on a regular basis (actually in Ringwood on a Thursday). There's some in Southampton that are more regular. As for festivals, the two main ones I go to have been already (Wimborne and Wessex) but there's the Swanage Folk Festival in September and the Purbeck Folk Fest in August. Swanage is an open fest around the town, Purbeck a pay-and-sit-in-a-field type. Let me know if you're going to be down at some point.
