Referee starts riot by sending off player .

Normally one man punching another on the football pitch sees the referee intervene - but this time the man in the middle is actually the perpetrator.

The referee deems this particular offence as worthy of something more than the usual red card.

As a result, after consulting with his linesman, the official issues a red card to the offending player - then gives him a smack in the face for good measure when he starts to complain.

What follows is hilarious and horrific in equal measure as the players are initially stunned.

What do you do when the ref hits your team-mate in the chops? The ordinary reaction to an opponent doing so is to retaliate - but the referee?
