  • I like the color, display, and most of all the size of this radio. It would be perfect for my vehicle since I don't have much room.. but it's a shame they don't have make one like this with side bands.

  • Is this water proof for use on a motorcycle?

  • @w4wxp thanks

  • @racedriver52 Generally people use a power supply to use them indoors; Astron, Tripp Lite, and other such companies make them. Some of them have Cig. Lighter Plugs built in, others have poles to hook the power wires to.

  • Hi I have a question, if I wanted to use a Cobra 19 like a base station, I'm trying to figure out how to power it. Does it have a cigarette lighter plug or does it get hooked up somewhere else?

  • @Xantophia LOL you're talking way over the heads of cb'er good buddy. 73` W8RCM

  • And I can't imagine a bigger RF noise source than a substation.

I use a l/2 dipole (300ohm with a 300/50ohm balun) which is placed 15m high. Tuned the antenna to a 1,2 SWR, and I've talked 132km with it!

TUNE the antenna with a SWR meter, filter the DC power, and the antenna if necesary and this guy must work properly.

  • It's not a very bad CB radio but it's an entry level set. I tried it in the lab. and got stisfactory results! Used a 50ohm dummy load and measured 6.4W! ...well, they say it's 4W in FM, but this is just better for me. Some say the squelch is crap, well, if you run it in a car, you should look after the source of your noise. Here's my case: I live next to a substation, ant there are some 110kV powerlines hanging at 40m from my QTH(location), and that doesn't interfere with my set.

  • Ive used this radio and it is crap. I run a Uniden pc66, its peaked and tuned and works great.

  • @icecream907 The screen lights up orange. This radio is junk tho, I would recommend the Uniden Pro 520XL which is smaller and performs better overall.
