@Jawbee100 She is fluent in 6 or 7 languages and releases albums in these languages. This is my problem with a lot of Filipinos. They say things but don't think to make sure that what they're saying is accurate. This even shows in the packaging for a lot of Filipino music that I buy. Even the UP library catalogue doesn't have a standardized way of tagging their items.

@Jawbee100 Make sure you do reasearch and make sure that what you're saying is actually true. You shouldn't make assumptions because she is not popular among people you know or that she is not popular in theUS. Nana Mouskouri was (and maybe still is) the female singer with the most number of units sold, even more than Madonna. You might not think that she's not as popular as Brenda Lee etc. because she is not popular in the States. She however is popular in almost every other country in the world

@toiletholder only few people knows nana mouskouri...most people knew karen carpenter, brenda lee, timi yuro, anne murray, shirley bassey, etc....and to think nana mouskouri is not comparable to this timeless female singers...

This is just an assumption but Tausug which is part of the Visayan language family might produce Muslim-based music. Not sure. They generally don't like to be called "Visayan" because it's associated with Hispanization/Catholicism. As for other styles of Visayan music. . .American. YUCK.
