Use these tips when you are writing your own songs. There are plenty of other things I could tell you, but I wanted to keep it simple. Please comment or send me a message if you have any questions or need help/input with a song you're working on. Also, feel free to send me a video response with a song you've written!

i find lyrics relatively easy cos it's just basically poetry, i tend to make melodies quite boring, also i can do ballads but for some reason have trouble making upbeat/dance songs, probably bcos when i feel like dancing the last thing i want to do is write a song

Paolo Nutini makes happy worlds and sad sounds work beatifully check out 'These Streets' in which he uses a chord progression in all majors while singing about his homesickness. He also has a song with rather upbeat lyrics called 'Candy' which uses an all minor chord progression.
