The 2011 Infiniti G37 IPL showed up at our office on a wet and rainy Monday afternoon. Despite the uninspiring weather and general lack of traction, we grabbed the keys and went out for a quick drive to experience G37 IPL's subtle improvements over the Infiniti G37.

  • A BMW 335is "comparably equipped" is over $60K, the IPL is loaded at $52K, performance is pretty much the same. I shopped Audi, BMW, Corvette and Mustang, the IPL surprised me and I took a Graphite Shadow one home. Zero regrets and you don't see one on every corner, a nice luxury sports coupe, not a street racer but neither am I. My last car was a V8 Jaguar S-Type Sport, the IPL makes me smile more.................

  • 370z Nismo in a suit.

  • @clarda1 I have been asking that question for a very long time

  • @freedomfighterNY I never said it was just the motor.I know that they upgrade the suspension, body work, exhaust etc. Its just not worth putting a performance badge on something that really is not faster than the standard version. Id prefer a G45 with the VK45 or a G50/56 over a turbo'd VQ35HR/37. The G37 is already fairly quick, added 18hp just does no justice.

  • @clarda1 While I agree with you on the fact it should have a vq35hr motor turboed, you have to look at the fact its not just the motor they upgraded. I would like to see a turbo version of the G, but if youre looking for performance at a comparative price, buy a Z33 and turbo that, all for the same price.

  • @SaMaster14 I'd still go 335. But I'd buy it because I like to drive not because of the badge. The people who buy it for that reason have the 328's and 325's.

  • @Buttnut105 actually its priced pretty fairly compared with the competition. An equally loaded BMW 335i coupe is still a few thousand more and the 335iS is even more for only a slightly quicker car. (though you are also paying for the BMW badge there)

  • @clarda1 supposedly for 2013 Infiniti is partnering up with Mercedes and getting an AMG powered G priced at around 70k, to compete with the M3s and C63s.

I agree with you though. This car should be the G37S version, and the current G37S should be the stock G37 coupe

  • This is a nice car but does not deserve an IPL badge. For only 18HP more and all that extra cost, its not worth it. An IPL should have significant hp over the standard, granted this car does have the looks to pull it off, but maybe a 3.5L Turbo or a 3.7L Turbo ,or a tuned 3.7L that makes more than just 18hp more, This vs the standard G37, and they would be dead even at a drag strip. Or they can make a G56x and just get over with it :)

  • Mostly this video is of the car at a standstill. Why not some video on the road? I guess videotape IS pretty expensive, these days...
