  • What happens if you break the middle part (pistil) while trying to hand pollinate it? Then that bud is wasted and wont produce anything? I'm using a very soft and small makeup brush but still manage to break some. Maybe I don't need to rub that much inside, just barely touch it? Any suggestions?

I had trouble using paint brushes, which is why I started thinking about what else I could do. While brushing my teeth one day with my electric toothbrush the thought occurred to me that it would be a lot easier with bees, then the vibrations of my tooth brush reminded me of bees and hence the idea to try pollination with the tooth brush. It worked great for me with all peppers and tomatoes. I also have no problems with the flowers breaking or not fruiting using this method.

  • Thank you for the vid! very straight forward and informative especially for people trying to find out exactly how its done. I put together one kind of like this that i hope will work. it's a schick razor handle that vibrates but i duct taped a plastic cap on the head in hopes that i could catch some pollen from each flower and literally rub it in all the others faces... i mean sex organs

Oh yes, that sounds like a great method as well! Thanks for offering another method!!!

  • nice vid will definetly try that on my chili plants i somehow cant get them to grow any i tried the brush but 2 days later the whole flower with stem fell and this happens every time

Another problem is that the flower might be too old and you need to pollinate them within a day or two of them opening.... wait to long and then the flower will fall off.

Sounds like it might be a lack of light problem?

  • Sorry forgot to mention that it's pepper plants that I'm struggling with.
