Shoes have been made in china for the last 25 years. That is nothing new. You didn't cry about it 25 years ago, why now? And if any of your elected officals had any kind of foresight, you wouldn't be in this proclaimed fiasco. Then again, maybe they did have extremely good foresight and this is what they wanted to achieved.

though i understand people like the "made in America" sticker instead *which sometimes doesn't make a difference in quality) WE are attracted to weird shit like that, i'd rather have a "made in japan" sticker than a "made in china" sticker simply because it looks cooler.
