This 'gentleman' passed way too close when it was totally unnecessary. He claimed it was because I was too far out. Mind you he passed another cyclist just as close and he was further to the left.

He didn't like it when I pointed out the camera...

  • @JustOneQuestion Everyone pays to use the roads, and given that cyclists earn on average above the UK national average, and that most own cars too, they are paying more to use the roads than most motorists.

It's a narrow lane - cyclists should take the lane, and good drivers should pass in the offside lane.

  • @TheKingrib1 Look at the picture in the highway code rule 163. That shows how much room you need to leave when passing a cyclist. In the next lane please, unless it's an exceptionally wide lane, say more than 6m wide.

  • @JustOneQuestion Don't be silly. The boris bikers is just one example, but my original comment applies to cyclists across the whole of the UK.

Yes, the driver was driving without due care and attention. The standard of his driving there falls well below that expected of a competent driver. The police would definitely have given you a warning if you overtook me like that - I have several similarly close overtakes where the driver moaned about the warning.

  • @lizardizzle Lol you've contributed nothing to the comments on this video, you're just mindlessly repeating what mikey's been saying and taking any opportunity to insult anyone who disagrees with him, it must be love!

Seriously though, you're supporting a guy whose entire arguement rests on a suggestion in the highway code, and an unofficial road safety charity's opinion who have no affiliation with the government. If you have something more convincing to add, go ahead.

  • @CyclingMikey Haha ah right sorry I didn't realise you were catagorizing all cyclists as boris bikers in London, fair enough 6 in 10 boris bikers may pay a lot of tax, however, 6 in 10 boris bikers in London represent a small percentage of cyclists on the road and so I think we can safely disregard those statistics...

The police would have no buisness in that 'incident' since the driver wasn't breaking any laws, you know why he hasn't be reported? cause the police would laugh at you.

  • haha, what is your problem nobody was hurt get on with it and stop moaning

  • @TheKingrib1 I suggest you get some IAM lessons. They have some specific advice on how to drive around cyclists, and I suspect you could learn a lot if you google it. For that matter they have similar advice for cyclists in this situation. Turns out Magnatom is correct in taking the whole lane. ;)

  • @lizardizzle Stubborn, certainly, but that's far outweighed by their lack of intelligence and worse still, critical thinking.

  • @joecooper18 I think you're a poor driver, and you definitely aren't an advanced driver. The IAM has some words of advice for you on how to drive around cyclists, none of which match your opinions. For that matter, the IAM also has words for cyclists - in this case Magnatom's cycling is spot on, and the other guy should have taken the lane.

Drive like that around me in London, and at the least you'll be getting a letter of warning from the Met Police based on them seeing video of you like this.

  • @CyclingMikey Boy are these guys/gals stubbern, eh Mikey? This channel has an infestation like I've never seen!

  • @joecooper18 I suggest you scroll down a few comment pages to read me and CyclingMikey's reasons you're wrong. But since this is the internet and I know you won't, I'll take time out of MY day to teach a dangerous idiot driver why he's wrong.

Vulnerable road users, such as cyclists, are required to be passed with as much room as a normal car, about three feet or more. If the lane is too narrow for a car to pass safely, then the cyclist moves to the center to encourage drivers to change lanes.

  • @CyclingMikey if the car doesnt hit you, hes not too close.
