  • I honestly don't think Wescos minor features are worth double, sometimes triple (if you need a custom boot) the cost of Chippewas. If you're taking care of your boots, they should last you a LONG time, despite the differences between the two brands. They're both very good brands. Even the Chinese manufactured Chippewas are well put together. I don't ride, however in my line of work, you're boots will make you or break you. I wasn't about to spend $130 + $404 stock for insulated Wesco Loggers.

  • @VideoScenario: while Mike, the Owner of Stompers, has had to cut back staff (the economy, you know), he should be around, and he's the one to see when you visit. Calling ahead (1-888-BOOTMAN) is a good idea just to make sure he will be there. But you don't need to make an appointment. Tell him that "Booted Harleydude" sent you. He will get a smile out of that (and I get no reward; we're just good friends.)

  • @VideoScenario: you can see the various soles that Wesco has available on the wesco website, and use that to specify what you want. The Vibram 430 sole is about the lowest that they have. You can make it clear what you want. Stompers takes the measurements and provides a custom sizing form for free (unlike the factory that charges $95 just for that.) When the boots are ready, the factory ships them directly to you. You don't have to go back to Stompers to pick them up. Shipping is free.

  • @VideoScenario -- yes, I have been to Stompers many times over the years. They are great, especially with measuring for custom Wesco boots. Don't order from the factory unless you have money to burn. Go to Stompers and try some boots on, or have them measure you for custom boots that will fit you perfectly. They have done that for me and my boots fit great. It's worth the drive.

  • In my case Chippewa was the obvious choice, not only for my budget but also because I found awesome that Chippewa makes a stocked high shine version compare to Wesco that they would have to be made on costom(wait longer) and would have cost double the price if not more.

I would like to add that I love your very detailled site and all tips you give to help peoples that would like to get into leather. Thanks it helped me a lot and I realized that leather is defintely something for me.

  • Awesome video! When I wanted to have more informations before buying my Chippewa High Shines I wrote you first before talking to the sale person at Stompers. You were almost right for my sizing but the sale person recommended me to take a 9D while you suggested a 9.5D. I ended taking a 9EE as the 9D was way too small. At first they were still kind of small but now they are well braked in they fit me perfectly and are very comfortable.

  • Thanks for pointing out the differences. That is very helpful.

  • Great video. Please make more comparison videoes. You are great
