  • PatTheNESpunk 1:41 - What do you think is happening? The girl is being drugged to be sacreficed to their pagan gods. It was explained in one of the narrations.

  • @Afrocanuk Way to ruin all the fun, LITERAL LARRY.

  • "Fly straight into the sun!" And thus they flew too close to the sun, the golden bird melted around them, suffocating them in molten gold in an excruciating, horrible death! What a cheerful note to end on!

  • Ha!

  • i'm sorry.

  • No, you're not the Greg. You're way young to be the evil one.

  • The mini documentries were shown in all ABC TV airings of MCOG here in Australia from 1986-1990.

  • MCOG >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Today cartoons

  • damn, this cartoon looks cool

  • Actually it's good that the city of Gold was destroyed.

Because if it was taken by the Spaniards Gold today would have been worth as much as Pig Iron

  • I used to love this "shizzle" - the best kids show I ever watched. It didn't feel like a slap in the face when you watched it as child - most "kids" shows were inane & grated deeply (I also found them embarrasing). I loved the history theme, got me into archaeology I think & the music was awesome as well - that moody synth was awesome! Looking forward to seeing this new one, I just hope they don't try to make it too "relevant" to todays audience! The original was great because it was different!

  • Kokapetl was known as Picchu in the French version. So it's a dub name change. As well Hiva is also a dub name change. In the French version it was known as Mu. And yes, there were no good English dubs for any animated shows between 1970 and 1990 ever.

  • I remember the excuse was that the English dubbing sessions had a very small budget which is why a lot of the dubbing seemed rushed. Always did like the syrupy sound of the voice of Esteban.

Surprised you made nothing of the name Kokapetl. A thinly veiled reference to the coca plant (coca petal) - world famous for its use in getting entertainments like The Mysterious Cities of Gold green-lighted.

  • Eglish dubbing at the time SUCKED!!! But I still love the theme song!

  • Goddamnit Pat, that baseball cards bit had me pissing my pants. Good shit man lol

  • haha good stuff thanks for this
