  • hearing this old stuff, you can really see how more modern guitarists like Frusciante pay homage to Hazel, whom they often mention reverently as a major influence in interviews. Too bad Hazel didn't live long enough to turn out lots more like this. His time on earth was too brief.

  • However, he lived in the golden ages of rock/funk.

  • when they were recording the original version,george clinton told eddie hazel"play it like you just heard your mother died"

  • It's a famous episode and his wonderful advice made a historical masterpiece!

  • I have to say, this tops the studio version

  • As you say, this may be more energetic and stronger than the studio version.
