A mirror engraving on the rear face of the mirror so the reflector is erased and then painted black so the pic stands out.

  • What are you using for a laser source?

  • @regpye

Hi. My laser is an RF 30 watt laser from ULS.inc. I now have a 100 watt glass tube one and I am installing that for some serious speed boost but I have a problem with the control not wanting to go over 100mm/s.

In the next few weeks I will upgrade the drive with some 100 watt Yaskawa closed loop servo drives and see if they can do better.

    Thanks for looking. :-)

  • the problem lies in your software, trying to make raster patterns with what could have been speeded up 100 fold with a vector pattern for almost the same drawing.

  • The vectors would only be 0.004" in thickness so there would have to be many thousands of them for the engraving. There is a big difference between vector drawing on the screen and vector printing with an engraver. I also would like to do some tests with 8 colours and try out some vector 3D printing but I just haven't had the time.

More power would allow me to engrave at a far greater speed than with the 30 watts.

  • It does take an age but I just go off and do something else like build another wood router or play DOW 40K or just have a nice long relaxing bath. Then I can sell the mirror for $50.

They cost $98 in the good 'ol US of A.

    I'm just a cheap skate.

    Thanks.

  • I seen your vids.

    You RULE

  • Thanks a bunch for watching them. I will try and make some more interesting ones in the future and show the process a bit better. I try to make some of the videos slightly informative as there was bugger all around from the home user when I first started.

    Thanks for the Kudos. :-)

  • Hi, I live in Brazil, and just found out this video...did you build this?

How can I get one? How much it cost? Do you sell the product or the "how to"?

    Thanks,

    Rejane

  • Try adding oxygen instead of air, you will be surprised what you can cut.

  • damn this must cost a lot since it takes forever:/
