the Frisco 1522 was the closest operating standard-guage steam locomotive to me (I lived not 30 minutes from it's home spot) until it was pulled out of service (I wish I could remember the date it has been a confusing week). I have seen it locked up in the back yards at the St. louis Museum of Transportation. I decided to make a tribute to it using Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006. It came out pretty well to me.

thanks to TheCowboy for the excellent Frisco model and SPORBUST for the SD70ACe

(The part at the end was supposed to be a hope that the 1522 might ride the high iron again someday)

  • tell me if i'm wrong, but you seem to be running this locomotive on a stand-alone layout that isn't a scenario. if it isn't that, what scenario are you running it on? i never got the hang of putting the train on a base layout to run it without having to go into a scenario.

  • @Fireheart528 What version of Trainz are you using? In TRS2004 above, you could go into surveyor, place your trains, and then run the session freely without creating a scenario.

  • @ronthecyborg i use both TRS2004 and TRS2006. i just never got the hang of it; tried doing that with a base layout in TRS 2006, but i couldn't even get the loco to move.

  • @Fireheart528 I'm assuming you used the default SD70. You need to go into surveyor and actually fill those locos up with fuel.

  • Oddly enough, 1522 did not haul any CN cars that I can recall, and certainly not on the head end, though the Metis would have made a nice tail car if the time line would have coincided.

  • very true. However, there are none of 1522's excursion cars available. I use what I had.

  • @ronthecyborg i had actually used the CN U-2 4-8-4. I've always been more partial to steam than diesel. Would like to do what you're doing here, but my dad won't let me put any games at all on the computer--including this.

  • @ronthecyborg is the TRS2004 easier to do that with? and no, i used the Canadian National U2 4-8-4 steam loco. i'd rather use TRS2004 because it has a bunch of locos in there that i like, but i never figured out how to get them running like you had in this video.

  • as an owner of several steam traction engines, and a bit of a rail fan, very nice vid.i'm sure you have a lot of time invested.well done.almost brings a tear to eye.i saw the 1522 photo run in lake villa IL in 1988,i'll never forget it!

  • This is TRS2006? Wow. i gotta get myself a Frisco and i got a DVD set and i think 1 or 2 of the DVDs have Frisco in it. AND ITS REAL, LIVE TRAINS

  • even if ur not a fan of trains OMG amazing (good grapics and camra views)

  • Coooooooooooooool!!!!!! Where did you the download for the Frisco# 1522?

    I love steam locomotives from 1860's - 1940's ,

like the Sierra # 3(Built in 1891 by the Rogers Locomotive Works ) and the Frisco # 1522 ( built in 1926, by the Bawdin Locomotive Works)
