This is a complete northern Thai shaman dancing in the rain. The dance was held in June 12, 2004 as a ceremony to pay homage to the guru of angels who use grandma Jantip Singkaew as their media or host. The location was at Ban Chayeung, Tambol Donkaew, Mae Rim, Chiangmai, Thailand.
The clip starts from shaman dressing (beleive as done by the angel who take over or control their soul at that time), the host angel performing dance as part of paying homage to his/her gurus on the angel's house, and dancing by many angels that continued while the heavy rain was pouring on them.
Many people call this event the spirit dance. But in our community we don't agree with the word "spirit" or "ghost". We believe they are not normal ghost, they are agels. Especially in this ceremony, the host angles were regarded for more than 100 years as the village's guardian angels. They protect and give blessing to everyone in our village. According to our tradition, there are classes of guardian angels.
Many shamans are usually shy persons, polite, and are respectful grandmas or grandpas. If you ask them about what they did in that kind of ceremony, they will say that they don't know because everything was done by the angels who control their body and soul, not them!!!
