@joescottmusic I almost forgot about saying "pride" on the field. I miss that too.It was a hard habit to break when we stopped.Yelling "Ole Brook" on the field is a poor effect.Honestly I could care less about being from Brookhaven, MS but at one time you can bet your bottom dollar that I was proud of being in the Brookhaven Marching Band. Now I'm a little embarrassed honestly.William Blake once said "Pride is a personal commitment. It's an attitude which separates excellence from mediocrity".
@TheClarinetGurl I don't know who you are TheClarinetGurl, but we are from the same year and that was a perfectly eloquent summary of the BHS band. Although I wish with every fiber of my being that it wasn't true. Personally I feel like those bad attitudes started cropping up after we quit saying PRIDE on the field. It used to be all about the pride. I miss that.
People got lazy. That's what happened to Brookhaven. Bad attitudes ran rampant and leadership was virtually non existant. Many a day did I hear someone tell me they did not care about band and only wanted to quit. Of course every band goes through this but it continued to get worse. To be the best you have to want it. Brookhaven just settled for what they got.
@CaptDouchebag Ya that simply isn't true. The Brookkhaven High School Band survived a couple years without Mr. Harris, but it has slowly died. I am ashamed of the 2s that the band recently recieved. I have always expected the best out of the BHS band. In my 4 years I worked extremely hard to keep the standard of excellence in that band. It has been falling ever since Zachary Harris left, albeit he would probably not like to take credit for it. Also, Pirate Show sucked.
this was my band freshman year band show it was the best of all my 4 years.....i was on baritone horn line that year.....i so miss that show even though it was super long...
@joescottmusic And btw, this is Michelle Diamond.
