  • it works better with some WD40

  • @vvv435 Except in the end WD40 will make it rust more because its a chemical that continuously eats away at the metal.

  • @cjhoyle I've looked at the oficial wd40 web site, just one quote from faqs:

    What surfaces or materials are OK to use WD-40 on?

    "It is safe for metal, rubber, wood and plastic. WD-40 can be applied to painted metal surfaces without harming the paint."

    but wd40 is a poor lube, it could be washed away fast and cause O2+metal contact again (=rust), so from time to time I apply some oil to prevent it.

  • @vvv435 That faq answer is so unspecific, it just says 'metal'! Do they really expect me to believe that it is safe on every type of metal ever made?

    I personally do not recommend WD-40 to anyone for bikes, just based on my own experience.

  • @cjhoyle noooo. its oil based and protects the surface from moisture. if anything it will help prevent future rust.
