@Dymension Well actually, I heard her sing BALLO, OTELLO and LUISA MILLER it at the MET in 1968 and 1969. She always had these bigger roles in her rep. She was simply older at the time of her "discovery" than we all thought. And she sang to much, often not bothering to learn her roles. But at her best in the early 70's, particularly the Concert versions the English Queens in Carnegie with Eve Queler (only Stuarda and Devereux - Bolena came later) she was stunning. Especially with Verrett.

@NKWIAM You're absolutely right. She WAS wonderful, but her career peaked very early. in 1975, she was a sensation. by 1980 when she was singing Amelias in Ball in Maschera she became a total mess. She threw herself and her talent. Just read the reviews.

@Dymension That's kind of harsh. Early Ricciarelli was marvelous, just listen to Simon Boccanegra, Maria di Rudenz, or Luisa Miller for example. I do agree that after the mid 80's she had lost much of her once magnificent voice and some of that was due to her listening to Von Karajan.

@NKWIAM Ricciarelli wasn't good at much of anything....

Well, we all know about Montsy, but Bianca Berini is a revelation to me, just great.
-
C´mon man... Aragall had 1000 times better voice than this.
-
God Montsie looks so fiery after she tells her off like "there biatch, now ya know what I think! and i ain't taking it back!"
-
la plus voix du siècle dans donizetti mais quelle piètre actrice!
-
I hate to say this but I think Ricciarelli was better as Maria Stuarda.

Caballe and Berini - BRAVI
Love Caballe's curse sounds a bit like Santuzza. Must be a Mediterranean thing,
