Louis Andriessen (b. 1939)
De Snelheid (cont.)

Oliver Knussen (b. 1952), conductor
ASKO Ensemble

Written 1982-83.

Even though this isn't from an LP, I think it definitely deserves to be shared. De Snelheid was John Adams's inspiration for 'Short Ride in a Fast Machine.' It is intense, exciting, and filled with energy throughout the piece.

Recorded in 2002. BBC Music Magazine.

  • It is like a Concerto for Woodblocks. Ranks right up there next to the garbage by the German crowd.
