Is it just me or is the drunken kung fu style more useful when being attacked in a street (as in pretending to be drunk and then surprising the attacker with a precise hard punch) rather than in an organised fight where the opponent clearly knows you are not drunk? 'cause the "drunk motions" definitely do not affect the karate guy. just my opinion ofc

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think both styles know how to protect from attacks from the same style. But hey never learned how to defend against a complete unknown style. But that´s my theory, based on nothing.

Nope it's Asian culture in general. Korea adopted Kung Fu from the Chinese thousands of years ago and tweeked it a bit depending on the individuals who founded various schools. Karate is not quite as old as jujitsu and came from India, than Okinawa a few hundred years later. Do you history homework.
