Zanzibar, known as the spice island, traders of all skin colours for centuries, each of these people leaving their own mark.

Consequently Zanzibar has one of the richest food cultures in East Africa.

Al Jazeera samples some of the local cuisine from the island where the oceans are the streets.

  • Zanzibar this was the largest slave port in the history of the world, this is where the Black Africans where enslaved by the Arabs and forced into slavery all through out Asia.
