Hi - you can use butter instead of margarine if you like. In terms of potatoes - we have not used any in this recipe.

There is nothing to stop you using olive oil - it would certainly make the batter and doughnuts taste a bit different but you could give it a go! It would be a more expensive option for cooking doughnuts as well.

You may want to experiment to find what consistency you want to the batter - what was filmed here tasted great and had a light and fluffy texture when cooked - best of luck!
