State of Utah Veterinarian, Dr. Bruce King, explains how dairy farmers care for their animals while safeguarding the quality of locally produced milk. Utah farmers take remarkable care of their livestock, including dairy cows, by providing good nutrition, a safe and comfortable living environment and conduct humane hygiene practices that keep dairy products safe. Practices such as tail docking ensure the high quality and safety of dairy products by decreasing the chances of any contamination . Practices like de-horning dramatically increase safety for farm workers and other livestock.
The AVMA does not condone tail docking and Bruce King should probably consult the literature before he gives his uninformed opinions on the matter. Published studies have shown that tail docking is unnecessary.

Just because some dairy farmers are abusive and neglectful doesn't mean that they all are and, very few of them are what you would call "rich"........

Many of these videos show open wounds, infected...hit with hammers or anything else they can get their hands on. Killing the male caves and if the female calve is useless she gets it too. Seperating the mother from the baby. I am ashamed for being part of the problem that causes this mass production that makes the farmers rich, and we can get fat, so to speak. I think I am going to give it my best shot to live without the products that cause the abuse of these animals.

Tail docking... maybe it isn't done to conflict pain... but it IS painful and so is de-horning. There is no excuse for this... have you seen some of the videos in regard to the abuse these animals are receiving? ... and in the end if they can walk to get slaughtered, hell... lets just push them with the fork lift so we can make sure we get every cent we can!!!!
