Visit http://www.powellriversunshinecoast.com to see more great Powell River and Sunshine Coast area videos.

This Powell River hiking video was photographed and made by York McFarlen of Powell River.

The first photo in the slideshow is taken from Tin Hat Mountain, looking down at Powell Lake and the Rainbow Range. At about 23 mile on the Goat Lake Main road there is an exit to the left leading to the trailhead to Emma Lake. The remainder of the photos were taken on that hiking trip.

Some of the shots are looking back across Goat Lake at the "Rainbow Range" on the other side.

One of the greatest pleasures about hiking in the Powell River area is that there are so few other hikers on the trails most of the time that it seems like it is your very own trail. I have gone out dozens of times hiking different trails and never ran across another hiker except the people that I was hiking with.

Many local people have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours creating different trails and bridges which are virtually deserted. It is a wonderful experience after having hiked in areas where it seems that everyone and their dog is out for a hike. If you've never hiked in the Powell River area, then you are in for a treat.

  • I used to own 40 acres by Klien lake, near Earls Cove. This whole area is spectacular. I might load some pictures of our own soon. Memories of living there make it even more difficult to be living in Saskatchewan. Ex BC Pat. Kelly.

  • Small world. I grew up in southern Saskatchewan. Earl's Cove is a beautiful area. I'm lucky to live here now. All prices are way down from last year so if you're thinking of coming back this would be the year to do it.

    Cheers,

    Robin
