This is the first two verses of the poem by Wallace Stevens. The entire poem is extremely long so I have only used the first two verses. This has been one of my favorite poems for many years - but the poetry book i found it in had the pages ripped out and I only ever knew there were these two verses until recently - so these vere the verses that meant the most to me.

It is said that the poem was inspired by the painting "The Old Guitarist" by Picasso. Ironically, when I first saw the painting in an art class it immediately reminded me of the poem and it wasn't until much later that I found out the two were connected.

The Song "Re:Stacks" by Bon Iver is just one of my favorite songs and I felt it had a tone that complemented the tone of the poem.
