The most recent two year downturn in the Oahu real estate market was recently characterized as "shallow and relatively short" by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, thanks in part to a 3.1 percent rise in the median price of single family homes to $592,750, making Oahu one of the nation's hottest markets.
Taking a look at the 4th quarter, the number of single-family home sales increased 8.7 percent from the 4th Quarter 2009 while condo sales slowed by a modest 1.9 percent.
Home values gained some ground last quarter as well with the Median Sales Prices increasing 0.9 percent for houses and 1.6 percent for condos, or $585,250 and $307,750, respectively.
