Athens Greece - Parthenon atop the Acropolis

The streets of the old Athenian town of Plaka lead to the Acropolis and Parthenon, seat of the ancient Greek Empire. This is an architectural marvel: there are no straight lines, in this building and other aspects like the pillars are all different sizes, to counter optical illusions created by our vision. Watch for the tourists who travelled half way around the world to sit with their backs to this wonder of the world where it is of greater interest to discuss their feet!!

I've been to the Acropolis this summer and to climb up the hill that shows us the Parthenon and all is a heck of a hike! But it is beautiful.
