Arctic Ice Grows

Just a few weeks ago, predictions of Arctic ice collapse were buzzing all over the internet. Some scientists were predicting that the "North Pole may be ice-free for first time this summer". Others predicted that the entire "polar ice cap would disappear this summer".
The Arctic melt season is nearly done for this year. The sun is now very low above the horizon and will set for the winter at the North Pole in five weeks. And none of these dire predictions have come to pass. Yet there is, however, something odd going on with the ice data.

The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado released an alarming graph on August 11, showing that Arctic ice was rapidly disappearing, back towards last year's record minimum. Their data shows Arctic sea ice extent only 10 per cent greater than this date in 2007, and the second lowest on record....

The problem is that this graph does not appear to be correct. Other data sources show Arctic ice having made a nice recovery this summer. NASA Marshall Space Flight Center data shows 2008 ice nearly identical to 2002, 2005 and 2006. Maps of Arctic ice extent are readily available from several sources, including the University of Illinois, which keeps a daily archive for the last 30 years

I think what really pisses them off is that with just a simple song and a background of snow and ice dwarfing a human into insignificance it points out the reality of the real situation. Right, it is not an informational video; it is just a commentary based on ignorance. As for having a "record low temperatures i many places" you apparently did not understand the term "global warming". Apparently you are happy to ignore the global picture. How many pictures do you need before you see the picture? Many low lying Pacific islands are experiencing the ocean heights as rising and encroaching their islands due to the mean rise of the oceans.

Wouldnt even make sense, but then again, you would have to study the subject to actually understand why its currently impossible to grow. I still have one for you, there are some nice places in the internet where you can buy satellite pictures of the earth to decorate your house. So buy one from 2009 and then one from 2010 or 2011, after that you only have to draw some lines and compare them. See for yourself, its THAT EASY

Once again, NOAA asserts that this was the warmest Sea Surface Temperature Global Average Summer on record. That's just the entire ocean of the world being averaged over 3 months.

You were born in the wrong time. You should have been around for the Italian Inquisition. You would have loved Galileo.

The average June-August 2009 summer temperature for the contiguous United States was below average the 34th coolest on record, according to a preliminary analysis by NOAAs National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. August was also below the long-term average. The analysis is based on records dating back to 1895.

2007, 08 and 09 are the three record years for Arctic sea ice minimums. The six lowest maximums occurred all in the last six years.
